Terms of use
Last updated 5 October 2026. These terms apply between you and the operator of PosterBell, Stefan Fossati (see Impressum). By creating an account you accept them. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy notice.
The service
PosterBell lets authors put a QR code on a conference poster so visitors can ring them, download the poster and leave a message. It is free of charge.
PosterBell is in beta. We run it carefully but make no promise of availability, delivery of every notification, or keeping the service running. We may change features or end the service; if we end it, we will tell authors by e-mail at least 30 days before and give you the chance to download your posters.
Your account
PosterBell is for people aged 14 or older. Use an e-mail address you control and a real name — visitors see it. Keep your login links and codes to yourself. You can stop using PosterBell at any time and ask us to delete your account.
Your posters and uploads
- Everything you upload — titles, subtitles, PDFs — is public to anyone with the link or QR code.
- You must hold the rights to what you upload, or have permission from co-authors, publishers and anyone shown or named, and publishing it must not breach embargoes or confidentiality duties.
- You keep all rights. You allow us to store, display and deliver your content, and to make the copies needed for that (including backups), for as long as it is on PosterBell.
Acceptable use
Do not use PosterBell to:
- publish anything illegal, infringing, defamatory, or personal data of others without a legal basis;
- send spam, harass authors or visitors, or collect their data for other purposes;
- distribute malware, phish, or disguise the destination of a QR code;
- overload, probe or circumvent the limits and security of the service.
If you receive visitor messages, use them only to answer the visitor and handle them in line with data protection law.
Reporting and removal
To report content that is illegal or breaks these terms, e-mail office@posterbell.com with the poster link and the reason. This address is also our point of contact for authorities and users under the EU Digital Services Act; we answer in English or German. We may remove content, block visitors, or suspend accounts that break the law or these terms, and will tell the affected author why unless the law or safety prevents it.
Liability
We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. Otherwise, as a free beta service, we are not liable for slight negligence, in particular for missed notifications or lost content — keep your own copy of your posters. Mandatory consumer protection law is not affected.
You are responsible for the content you upload and are liable to us if a third party makes a claim against us because of it.
Changes and applicable law
We may update these terms; we will tell authors by e-mail about material changes before they take effect. Austrian law applies, without its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of the country where you live still apply.
